Martin Luther King Day of Service
January 19, 2009

Here is a note from Charlie Bowen, our Path-Building Leader:

Hi Everyone,
Just want to report that we had over 40 people turn out today to clean up paths.  Bret Harte Path (#57) and Shasta Path (#64) both got a thorough weeding, which was desperately needed in both cases.  They are ones that we built with wood-tie steps 2-3 years ago.  Now the wood steps are all swept clean, and are clear of weeds out to about a foot on either side of the steps and they look great!  Pine Path, Avalon Walk and Oak Knoll Path all got much-needed sweeping and general cleanup of accumulated junk and they too are once again looking their best.   I think it is safe to say that everyone who worked today had a really good time, it was a beautiful day and it was rewarding to see the path look so different after just 2 hours of working on it together.

Here are 2 quotes from Martin Luther King

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.
