Saturday Walks

The Berkeley Path Wanderers Association sponsors a series of walks that are held on a Saturday of each month. These walks begin at 10:00 a.m. and are are usually about two hours in length. Walks may focus in a variety of local features and usually include points of historical interest and may include references to the flora and fauna of the area. Walks are free and both members and non-members are invited to participate.

Saturday Walks -- Spring 2008

April 19 - Carquinez Bridge/Crockett Walk - Paul Grunland
RSVP to Keith Skinner 510-528-3246

On a reprise of a popular Wed. walk, we will cross the new Carquinez Bridge on the pedestrian path, enjoying sweeping Bay
views. On the other side, we’ll explore the informal paths of quaint Crockett. Because the paths are narrow, this walk is limited to
20. RSVP for meeting place and start time.

May 10 - Hidden Gems of Berkeley
Co-Sponsored by Berkeley Partners
for Parks (BPFP) 510 848 9358

Discover exciting grassroots “greening” projects near the old Santa Fe rail route, ending with a no-host picnic in Strawberry Creek Park, on a May 10 walk co-sponsored by BPWA and Berkeley Partners for Parks. Community members will introduce a new volunteer-built park, a playground transformed by young artists, native plantings, gardens, public art, and plans for a exciting new plaza. Meet at 10 am at the observation railing at Codornices Creek on the Ohlone Greenway (north of Santa Fe, under the BART tracks, opposite 1200 Masonic). This level walk with frequent stops is possible for wheelchairs or strollers with one detour. For the picnic, bring a bag lunch or buy one at a nearby café. Information at  f5creeks@aol.com, or 510-848-9358
