Campus Highlights: Celebrating 150 Years of Cal!
Sunday, July 15 @ 10 a.m.
Leader:Ron Sipherd
Start:Water Sculpture (officially the Class of 1914 Fountain) Bancroft Way at College Ave
Join us as we explore the sights and history of the Cal campus as the university celebrates its 150th anniversary. We will see the old, new, and in-between architecture of the law school; a business school where every particle is named for a donor; a scandalous naked nymph statue, and a quite respectable statue of a football coach. We’ll also look down at a giant mobile and peer into a real mine under the campus (bring a flashlight). Among other highlights will be an outdoor library of rocks, the chancellor’s residence and flower clock, Sather Gate and its scandalous plaques, and a building designed to “monumentally nebulous” specifications.  This winding, three-hour walk is mostly level on paved surfaces with a few stairs.  Find related maps and resources here.
