Claremont-Elmwood Paths, Houses, and History

Leader: Ron Sipherd
Meet: SW corner of Ashby Ave and Elmwood Ave
Note: Unvaccinated persons must wear masks. We are monitoring mask guidance and will update our website with additional requirements if needed.

The neighborhoods of southeast Berkeley feature a wide variety of early 20th-century houses, estates, paths, and other developments. Join us on a fun walking tour that includes architect Leola Hall's 1912 Honeymoon House, the still-impressive remains of the "Tibetan-Mission” style Taylor mansion, artist Richard Diebenkorn's 1950's residence (built in 1889), a goose farm, and more. Expect some ups and downs, with stairs and paths. Well-behaved dogs OK. Optional stop at Peet's for a nosh and restroom near end of walk. The tour is led by Ron Sipherd, long-time resident and BPWA walk leader. You can check out more details about the walk on Ron’s website.
