All-the-Parks-in-Berkeley: Sunset Stroll

  • 160 University Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94710 United States (map)

Leader: Lynn Deregowski
Distance: 3.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 0
Accessibility: Mostly flat and paved, with a few dirt paths and inclines. Well-behaved, leashed dogs welcome.

Celebrate the summer solstice with a golden-hour walk through one of Berkeley’s most scenic areas! On the longest day of the year, we’ll enjoy bay breezes, sailboats in the marina, and panoramic views of the Golden Gate and San Francisco skyline—ending with a (hopefully spectacular) sunset over the water.

In this next installment of the All-the-Parks-in-Berkeley series, we’ll explore several of the green spaces that make the Marina area so special, including the expansive César Chávez Park, known for its open meadows and sweeping vistas. We’ll also pass Adventure playground — a quirky, family favorite—and enjoy the shoreline paths near Shorebird and Horseshoe Parks.

Expect a relaxed, social pace that’s perfect for an early summer evening with friends or your four-legged walking buddy. Bring layers and your camera, as there should be beauty in every direction.
