Two New Members Join Our Board

We always love welcoming new members of the BPWA community to our circle, and we’re happy to introduce David Gyorke as our new Path Building Liaison and Cheri Pearson as our new Newsletter Editor!

David Gyorke is a retired medical-device executive with an engineering background. With his wife, he’s been enjoying Berkeley’s paths since the early 1990s so, once he retired, he saw volunteering for BPWA as an opportunity to give back and joined our path-building team. As Path Building Liaison, David will provide the board with monthly path-building updates, organize work activity to respond to path conditions, and coordinate our activities with City of Berkeley Public Works. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and home winemaking.

Cheri Pearson is a published freelance writer and recent graduate of UC Berkeley, where she double-majored in conservation/natural resources and English. She has been the STEM director of a nonprofit, a small business owner, and an environmental protection specialist for the federal government. In her new role, Cheri will write and edit content for our monthly newsletter and People & Paths blog. She enjoys the beauty, serenity, and exercise the Berkeley paths provide.
