We LOVE the Paths!
February is American Heart Month, a great opportunity to highlight five reasons we love the paths!
1. Physical well-being: The paths are a great way to get a cardio workout. Cardio strengthens the heart, lowers blood pressure, and improves circulation. Instead of the StairMaster at the gym, why not explore the many invigorating stairs the paths have to offer?
2. Mental health: It is a well-known fact that connecting with nature soothes the mind by reducing stress hormones and boosting serotonin and dopamine. Many tranquil paths lead to scenic parks and sweeping views. Think green and serene.
3. Social connection: Solitary strolls are lovely, but the paths offer a fun, healthy way to connect, whether with a romantic partner, as a family, or with friends. Some paths have benches or lead to picnic tables where you can take a break and share a meal. Join us on one of our regularly scheduled walks.
4. Environmental health: Ditch the car and take a path to stores and restaurants, such as those along Solano Avenue. Leaving the car at home helps reduce noise and emissions, leading to healthier air quality for all, including plants and animals.
5. Magical moments: The paths are full of magical moments. You will find secret stairways, ivy arches, fragrant flowers, trickling creeks, towering boulders, vibrant murals, green forests, unique statues, architectural gems, and wildlife straight out of Felix Salten’s book, “Bambi.”
William Wordsworth’s poem "My Heart Leaps Up” expresses the joy of the natural world and the desire to hold on to childhood wonder through a connection with nature. The paths provide a welcome break from our urban environment.
