Accessibility: Dogs and children are welcome on the walk as long as they can keep up with the pace. A well-above-average fitness level is required for this walk.
Strenuous, fast-paced 10-mile hike with 2000 ft elevation gain on steep terrain from Rose Garden to Wildcat Peak in Tilden Park.
We will take stairways to reach Selby Trail in Tilden Park and proceed on the trails past Jewell Lake to the top of Wildcat Peak. We will stop at Wildcat Peak to enjoy sweeping views of the Bay and East Bay hills. After a short break, we will return to Rose Garden with another brief stop at Lake Anza for a water and restroom break. Give yourself ample time to park, we will be leaving at 8:35 promptly.
Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and bring water, layers, and hiking poles. Water fountains may be available near Jewell Lake and Lone Oak trailhead. Restrooms at Lone Oak Trailhead and Lake Anza. Lake Anza has a reliable water fountain.
Steady rain, smoke, or a heat wave would cancel the hike.
